For years, we worked alongside Partners and matter managers at Australian law firms. We watched them deliver outstanding legal work, then disappear into a thicket of manual estimate spreadsheets, hand-built client reports, and forecasts that lived in someone's head.

The work itself was world-class. The tooling around it was anything but. Estimates were drafted in Word and re-keyed into billing systems. Variance analysis happened in Excel, weeks after the fact. Forecasts were a quiet conversation between a Partner and their practice manager, written down nowhere. Reports for clients were assembled from scratch every time, even when the firm had run a hundred similar matters before.

We kept asking the same question: why is there no tool for this? Not a billing system, not a finance reporting platform, not another time recording tool. A tool built for the actual work of pricing, managing, and tracking legal matters as commercial projects.

So we built it. Legalia is shaped by the daily reality of legal project management in mid-market firms: the conversations, the rescope discussions, the difficult fee write-offs that everyone saw coming but no one had the data to prevent. It uses AI specifically for the work that matters — drafting estimates, generating forecasts, producing client-ready reports — without the gimmicks.

Built by legal project management professionals, for the firms we still believe in. We're not trying to change how lawyers practise law. We're trying to make the commercial side of running a matter less stressful, more transparent, and easier to defend.

Three principles that
shape every feature.

01
Decisions, not dashboards
Legalia is built to help Partners make better commercial decisions, not to produce more reports for someone else to read. Every screen is designed to answer a question someone is actually asking.
02
AI as a co-pilot, never a pilot
AI helps draft estimates, surface forecast risks, and tailor reports. Partners always see the suggestion next to the editable value, and have the final say. Professional judgment is irreplaceable.
03
Built for how firms actually work
Mid-market Australian firms don't have a Big Law tech budget. Legalia is priced for the whole firm, deployed in days, and shaped by feedback from the Partners and project managers using it.
